Willful Distortion from The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
I just saw an ad paid for by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. These are people who take donations specifically to get Democrats elected to the U.S. Senate.
This was an attack ad against Republican Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. I’m no fan of Saxby Chambliss, but the blatant nature of the distortion of this ad is just over the top.
The ad accused Saxby Chambliss of wanting to impose a 23% tax on virtually every retail transaction. The ad then goes on to suggest that such a thing would doom our economy.
Let’s be clear: Chambliss probably (I don’t know for sure) does favor a 23% retail tax. But that’s because he’s a supporter of the Fair Tax, which would totally eliminate the income tax and replace it with a 23% flat retail tax.
A multitude of studies have been completed which demonstrate conclusively that a 23% flat tax would not increase retail prices at all, while being able to completely fund the income needs of the United States government, and there would no longer be any need to have an income tax at all.
How great would your life be if the prices you paid for goods and services were identical to what you pay now, except that you didn’t have any income taxes to pay? That’s what Saxby Chambliss supports.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee knows this, but they choose to lie to you anyway. Think about it.
I’m Bryan Ellis, and I approved this Brilliance.
