Classless Barack Obama Slams Nancy Reagan Seances

Wow.  Barack Obama has made his first official gaffe as President-Elect.  When asked about whether he’d consulted with past presidents, he said he’s spoken to all of them that are “living” and he doesn’t want to get into any Nancy Reagan-style seances.

This guy is such a lightweight.  What a tasteless and stupid thing to say.  It’s certainly not as if any of us suspected that he’d managed to speak to any of the dead presidents.

That’s an incredibly inelegant and unprofessional way to address a former first lady who is now a widow, in poor health and nearly 90 years old.

Barack Obama stepped all over his tongue during this press conference.  I’ll break it down more later…

  1. yaaa..you are absolutely right. just plain bad manners !! this was a bad start. he paused way too much , stammered , anwsers were long winded…not much new information.
‘i was expecting more’ and that might very well be the theme of this presidency if he’s not careful.

  2. The lady had seances to schedule President Reagan’s social calendar. That’s some funny stuff, no matter what your politics are. Lighten up.

  3. I agree with Jeff, it was quite hilarious. Lighten up and regroup for 2012

  4. It’s not a big deal, just classless.

What was curious is this statement:

“We are going to have to focus on jobs, because the hemorrhaging of jobs has an impact, obviously, on consumer confidence and the ability of people to — to buy goods and services and can have enormous spillover effects.”

Obama can acknowledge “spillover effects” of job losses (which is true), yet he completely doesn’t understand the “spillover effects” of financial punishment of those who are most able to create new jobs.

    That’s very weak intellectually.
